Natural gas the clean, cheap option for cars

Wyoming News -- CHEYENNE -- Imagine a vehicle that emits 30 percent less emissions and costs a third less at the pump.

The technology is available. Natural gas already heats about 60 million U.S. homes. More than 150,000 natural-gas-powered vehicles already traverse the nation's roadways.

The average fueling station can't accommodate a natural-gas vehicle, but that could change if more consumers demand cleaner alternatives, said Randy Teeuwen, community relations advisor for EnCana Oil and Gas.

What that means gallon wise for a car? CLE RTA bus line was natural gas with their CLEAN AIR buses & that lasted 6 months and they are back to diesel with the black smoke on the clean air bus.

So if we were to switch to that fuel source, it would mean depriving terrorist sponsors of their billions.

But, we use a lot of NG up here in the midwest, making home fueling stations a possibility. Someone was bitching about solar's seemly long-term development. I would think that storage for the energy produced through solar sources has been its Achille's heel. But that is coming around.

The US is converting to Solar and CNG everyday...Both are very viable sources for home electricity and vehicular fuel. Many Farmers in the Midwest, converted to Propane years ago...they are some of the best proponents for overall city-folk conversions. No, CNG is not renewable, but it sure beats HECK out of OPEC Gas for the short haul. And, not everybody in the US is consumed, frothing at the mouth, with initial costs, so solar conversions are happening on a regular basis. No form of alternative fuel, whether for home or vehicular, is going to take America by storm...it will take time. Infrastructure in some cases will have to catch up. Cool your jets! As Daddy always said, "No guts, no glory!"

Give me a break.....Haven't they been listening?? What the hell am I going to do with a CNG vehicle if I can't get to a CNG station? With no wide spread fuelling sites, the sale of CNG vehicles to the public will be limited to areas that have an on site fuelling station such as those used by US Post Offices, service companies, Governmental Offices, etc. Even then, most stations are for private use only.

This is not my favorite alternative fuel for personal transportation, but I do think it is a CRIME that oil companies "BURN OFF" vast amounts of natural gas just to get it "out of the way" when they are after OIL ........ They do not want to be BOTHERED with capturing the gas, so they just BURN IT OFF ........... THAT "burn off" (which still releases pollution) COULD have heated a lot of homes, cooked a lot of dinners , and apparently, fuelled a lot of vehicles ............ In todays economy, this kind of waste is criminal ...... or should be.

Right now the tanks are huge and basically make your trunk or truck bed a giant holding tank for cng.

People are effing stupid when they go on about the lack of power (in vehickles). CNG is plentyful and affordable. A LOT safer than hydrogen and you can retro in in exsisting units.

It's more readily available than hydrogen as well.
